Collagen Extraction Membrane Separation Technology
Collagen is a biological polymer substance that is a white, opaque, unbranched fibrous protein. It is the main component of animal connective tissue and a functional protein that is abundant and widely distributed in mammals, accounting for 25% to 30% of the total protein content, and even up to 80% in some organisms. It has the effects of enhancing collagen activity in the skin, moisturizing the skin, delaying aging, beautifying, reducing wrinkles, and nourishing hair.
Traditional collagen production process:
Collagen can be dissolved in various extraction media with different pH and concentrations. According to different extraction media, collagen extraction can be divided into five categories: hot water extraction method, salt method, acid method, alkali method, and enzyme method. The basic principle is to change the external environment in which the protein is located based on the characteristics of collagen, and separate collagen from other proteins. In the actual extraction process, different extraction methods are often combined with each other.
Through years of experience serving plant extraction and leveraging the advantages of membrane separation technology, Shengchuan has successfully designed and produced membrane separation technology equipment suitable for the separation, purification, concentration, and desalination of plant extracts. Especially, the professionally developed ceramic membrane microfiltration and organic tubular membrane ultrafiltration systems are applied in collagen concentration and extraction membrane separation equipment, which can achieve microfiltration clarification and ultrafiltration of proteins, tannins, and decolorization effects. The membrane separation equipment can completely separate and intercept large molecular impurities, remove water and inorganic salts, and concentrate and refine effective ingredients. And through a specially designed operating process, impurities are not easily blocked on the surface of the membrane, solving the problem of membrane fouling and blockage. The membrane permeate water can be recycled and reused in the pre extraction process, reducing environmental pressure.
Collagen membrane extraction process:
Enzymatic hydrolysate → fine filtration → macromolecular ultrafiltration → nanofiltration membrane concentration → spray drying
Advantages of collagen membrane technology:
1. Membrane concentration has low energy consumption, only 30% of thermal concentration, saving costs for enterprises;
2. Front end impurity removal improves collagen quality and taste;
3. At the same time as membrane concentration, remove inorganic salts from the enzymatic hydrolysis solution, reduce bitterness and pesticide residue;
4. Shorten the production cycle and increase production efficiency;
5. Concentrate at room temperature, and the biological activity of the protein is basically not affected.
